Your baby is finally a year old! You survived one whole year of parenthood! How did the fragile little newborn baby magically turn into this feisty, loveable little toddler in the blink of an eye? The best way to celebrate the First Year is with a photoshoot! a One Year old Photoshoot for your precious one!
Here are three top tips / suggestions for you to prepare your first ever One Year old Photoshoot with us!
Tip #1 One Year old Photoshoot Packing list!
1) Two to three sets of outfits for baby
2) Her favourite plushie / pacifier
3) Snacks (very important, not only as a perk-me-up but as bribery for smiles as well!)
4) Some new toys (being come in handy for getting her attention!)
5) Socks and shoes
6) Daily necessities (milk, bottles, diapers, changing mat etc)
Bonus-tip: Pre-pack these the night before so you won’t be in a rush during shoot-day!
Tip #2 Choose a studio that offers both studio & natural light settings
While some babies love the attention, some babies might be nervous or wary of the flashes of a studio lighting. Choose a studio that has a wide variety of natural settings. Oh Dear Studio is set in a beautiful heritage colonial shophouse, homely cozy and stylish. The place to relax and enjoy a shoot. Not only that, we are able to have greenery full outdoor pictures (on our studio’s rooftop) during a studio shoot!
Tip #3 Arrive on time
Babies can sense emotion way better than we give them credit for. So do make sure you arrive 5 to 10mins earlier to settle down, let her walk around and familiarise herself with the studio. Running late and rushing is the worst thing you could do because it not only push yourself to the edge, it often sets baby in a nervous fussy mood as well. Big no-no for photoshoots!
Tip #4 Have her dressed in the first (photoshoot) outfit
This not only saves you precious time, it cuts down the little one’s stress. Imagine going to a new place and being made to change straight away into new clothings when all you want to do is explore and play!
Bonus-Tip: Avoid overalls, pinafore, suspenders or any outfits with shoulder-straps. Straps frequently fall off baby’s shoulders (as we are moving around a-lot) and often result in untidy-outfit pictures. Opt for fitting one-piece baby rompers, because after-all, how long more can they wear onesies?
