We love hosting and photographing extended family photoshoots. There’s something about gathering everyone together in one place and capturing family time that feels really special to us. It’s almost like a Chinese New Year party!
Each extended family photoshoot is much like a party and we, the photographer, are the host. We create a fun atmosphere that encourages family members to interact and bond with each other. We tell jokes, need to understand each family’s preference and dynamic.

The first part of our extended family photoshoot involves a quick chat about your outfits and the many different combinations of photographs we will be capturing.
During the photoshoot, we usually take 80 (or more) different photographs of various combination. By the end of the session, everyone in the group will have plenty of images to choose from for social media, annual holiday card or wall display.
The fun starts here!
At the start of the session, we chat with each family about their outfits. We take photos of each individual family and then gather them together for some fun extended family photos.
Small children usually get bored sitting still for a portrait photograph so we take lots of different candid photographs of them playing with cousins or interacting with parents and grandparents.
We usually start the session with grandparents’ solos followed by their couple portraits. Once the grandparents’ photos are complete, we’ll begin photographing the couples and the little children.
Grandparents usually have the best time posing together for photos because they are really enjoying themselves and have nothing to worry about!
Our extended family photoshoots are set within a comfortable 1 Hour session. From experience, we find this the best duration before the youngs and olds start getting tired. (being a model can get slightly exhausting)
