Pre Birthday Studio Photoshoot, also known as First Year Photoshoot or One Year Photography is a great way to celebrate your baby (now a toddler!) entering toddlerhood. What’s the differences between a Studio Shoot and a Party Shoot?
A Studio Photoshoot takes place in a photography studio, where photographer has complete creative control over the photography setting, the lights as well as props. Photographer will usually direct you (think director!) and craft a session of images from candid photo to family photographs.
A Party Photoshoot is event coverage, photographer usually covers the event with a more documentary or journalist-approach. They hardly direct you but instead photograph the events that are happening (eg cake cutting, guest toasting etc)
How to plan for a Pre-Birthday Photoshoot?
#1 Choosing a photographer
Every photographer has a different way of photographing. Check out their Portfolio or Gallery and be certain their style aligns with your preference. Try to engage a photographer who’s also a parent themselves.
#2 Outfits for Baby
Your baby will be crawling, running, walking and having fun during the shoot. Do choose something lightweight and comfortable, like a onesie or one piece romper. Colour should be kept neutral.
Or you can also dress Baby in something that reflects her likes!
#3 Location for your Pre Birthday Photoshoot
Outdoor venues such as Botanic Garden are lovely! Think lush greenery with soft creamy light.
Or an indoor photography studio with full windows to bring in the natural light is ideal!
#4 Make it a cake smash!
One great memorable way to have a Pre birthday celebration photoshoot is to incorporate a Cake Smash in! Baby’s first taste of cake, made all the more adorable with toothy grins and creamy smiles!
