How do you get kids attention in pictures?
It’s one of the most stressful part of photoshoot, worrying your children won’t cooperate during the photoshoot. We get it, we really do. Being Mothers ourselves, we understand there are good days and not-so-good days. So how do we ensure little children enjoys (and cooperate) during the photoshoot?
How do we get children to cooperate for photos?
We photograph using Play-&-Engage (a term we coined). Meaning, we do not expect little children to sit still for pictures.
Our settings (see picture!) are all interactive and allow children to be creative. Hiding behind the curtains? Bursting out playing peek-a-boo (always a hit with toddlers) or simply dancing around.
All these plays encourages not only bonding between child and parent, it makes for a great fun time and most importantly, BEAUTIFUL CANDID photographs!
What to do when your child refuses to cooperate?
Children naturally love to play. When allowed to express their creativities, we often get the most brilliant laughter and smiles.
However, we do get little children who are simply not in the mood to be loud. Then we can have some quiet time. The studio has plenty of armchairs, benches as well as full glass windows to peek out of.
Should your little one get overwhelm during the photoshoot, we can also step out to the studio’s rooftop for some sun, greenery and even bubbles!
A walk around our picturesque Blair Plain neighbourhood is also on the menu. The conserved shophouses (right behind our studio!) is charming, beautiful and quaint.
Why do some kids not want their picture taken?
The reason can varies from bad experiences with previous photographer, to the association of ‘having to sit still‘ to simply afraid of flashlights.
Only by speaking with them, can we determine the exact reason.
In Oh Dear Studio, we design all our photography settings for little children (for play and pictures!)

How do you get kids attention in pictures?
Quite simply put, we don’t. We allow them free play, interacting with parents and sibling (and fur-sibling). We only ever ask for smiles when we know the children are ready to flash their smiles. Sometimes, we might slip in a little bribe (lollipop anyone?) or even a little screen-time (Peppa Pig to the rescue!) but more often than not, when children are having a fun time, they have no problem smiling for the camera.
