Natural light, mesmerizing backdrops, the spirit of fun – these are just three highlights of outdoor photography.
Singapore might only be a little red dot on the world map, but the lion city offers abundant and unique places to have an outdoor photoshoot. Here are 7 of them!
1. Jurong Lakeside Garden
Jurong Lakeside Garden might be a little far off for some. But trust me when I say the distance is worth it, because the surroundings are absolutely breathtaking.
From soft and whimsical Lalang fields, pleasant flora, as well as rustic fallen tree logs, there are numerous Insta-worthy spots littered around the vicinity for some sweet outdoor pictures. Here’s what a photo by the Lalang fields could look like:
One of Jurong Lakeside Garden’s highlights is the striking Lone Tree that has been making its way into numerous Instagram photos. It might look like a tree at first glance, but this Lone ‘Tree’ is actually a sculpture constructed with recycled iron parts. The combination of the majestic ‘tree’ with panoramic blue skies resemble the colourful African savannah, see below:
If you intend to head to Jurong Lakeside Garden, make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to snap a few shots here!
2. Botanic Gardens
A classic for many locals, the UNESCO site has over 150 years of history. It is the largest park in Singapore with tons of timeless backdrops for gorgeous outdoor pictures with the family.
There are various kid-friendly, shady and open spots for a family-oriented photoshoot with natural light like Ginger Garden and the octagonal Bandstand. Here’s an example taken at the Bandstand:
3. Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay
It might be uncomfortable for all parties to pose and look on point in Singapore’s sweltering heat. However, if you want to be surrounded by nature without sweating, why not head to Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome?
Not only is it air-conditioned throughout to keep the kids and parents cool and relaxed, but you can bask in the exclusive foliage and lush greenery Gardens by the Bay has to offer.
This photograph below was taken at the Flower Dome, with rich greenery and natural lighting without having to break a sweat!
4. Fort Canning Park
A local landmark with great historical significance, Fort Canning Park offers plenty of magnificent emerald green backdrops for a spectacular outdoor photoshoot.
You can choose from statuesque old shady trees, rustic woodwork and more at Fort Canning Park like this photo below:
5. Jubilee Park
A playground surrounded by nature, Jubilee Park is the destination for a fun-filled and playful photoshoot. There are facilities like swings that you could pose with (see below):
Jubilee Park is an ideal location to capture natural shots of the kids playing and having fun with their parents while being surrounded by nature.
6. Labrador Park
If you want to capture carefree shots with an awe-inspiring backdrop like this shot below, Labrador Park is it.
Labrador Park is a splendid location with a majestic seaport and wide clear skies for the perfect outdoor photoshoot. Some highlights include the Labrador Nature and Coastal Walk, Bukit Cherim Boardwalk, red lighthouse (see below), and Alexandra Garden Trail.
Take in the fresh sea breeze, enjoy some family bonding time at Labrador Park’s oasis of serenity, and capture it on camera, of course!
7. Universal Studios Singapore
Nothing screams “Fun” louder than Universal Studios Singapore (USS). With heart-stopping amusement rides and endless Insta-worthy spots littered all over the vicinity, USS is a neat location for a fun photoshoot that captures merriment and bonding.
