Where to Have a Uniquely Singapore Photoshoot
Leaving a place you’ve called home can be a bittersweet experience, especially if you have made plenty of good memories and fostered many new friendships here. While saying goodbye can be difficult, you can always commemorate the good times you’ve spent here with a photoshoot. This way, you’ll always have beautiful photos to look back on and remember your time in Singapore.
Where to Have an Expat Photoshoot in Singapore
The best way to have a uniquely Singapore photoshoot is to have your photos taken at a location that’s iconic of this beautiful city. Here are some locations that you can consider for your family photoshoot in Singapore:
- Marina Barrage
- Singapore Botanic Gardens
- Marina Bay Sands (MBS)
- The Fullerton Hotel
- Singapore Flyer
- Merlion Park
- Local hawker centres
Bear in mind that outdoor venues can get hot and crowded, and the success of the photoshoot is often at the mercy of weather conditions. Hence, for a conducive and comfortable alternative, you can consider dropping by Oh Dear Studio for its uniquely Singapore, colonial-style shophouse setting.
A Whimsical Haven in the Heart of the City
Nestled away in the Blair Plain Conservation Area, Oh Dear Studio is surrounded by beautifully preserved Peranakan shophouses, art galleries, restaurants and lush greenery.

The unique design elements add a quintessentially Singapore vibe to the photos.
A little bit of history about Blair Plain: it was developed towards the end of the 19th century and was gazetted for conservation on 25 October 1991. Today, you can find a cluster of two and three-storey colonial shophouses and terrace houses with a unique mixture of Chinese, Malay, European and British design elements in the area. This makes the neighbourhood an ideal location for a photoshoot if you’d like to head outdoors!

Now, let’s walk you through what you can expect at Oh Dear Studio. As you enter the studio space, you will be greeted by our relaxing colonial sitting area, which is a cosy corner adorned with lush greenery and a rustic wooden daybed. The exotic rug and plush cushions add an inviting touch to the space, making it one of the most popular sitting areas for photo-taking in the studio.

Our cosy nook is an inviting and picturesque space for phototaking.
Another unique feature of our studio is its elegant, full French windows. These windows allow soft sunlight to stream in, allowing me to create beautiful, timeless portraits with a combination of natural and studio lighting:

Our full French windows allow soft, light-filled portraits to be taken.
If you’d like to have a family portrait taken against a classic studio backdrop, no worries – we’ve got you covered. Using only the highest-quality studio paper in a contemporary grey colour that’s suitable for all skin tones and moods, our studio backdrop makes for a classic, timeless portrait like this:

Apart from our classic studio settings, you can also look forward to seasonal, themed settings during occasions like Christmas and Chinese New Year:

Finally, if the weather allows, we can head up to our private rooftop for a feel of the outdoors – right in the comfort of an indoor studio! Since our rooftop is fully open, there are plenty of angles for me to explore and work with, resulting in a myriad of photo opportunities. For example, if you’re a fan of lush greenery, you can go with this angle:

If you prefer modern cityscapes, this may be the angle for you:

For outdoor shoots, my recommendation is to go for 8-9 am or 6-7 pm timeslots. Do avoid afternoon timings as the heat can get pretty intense.
